NEW: transcripts of “Vegetarianism: The Story So Far”
Transcripts are now available of every episode of “Vegetarianism: The Story So Far”, thanks to volunteer Amy Carpenter. Find them via the “Vegetarianism: The Story So Far” home page, the transcript archive, or just after the download link in individual episode posts.
It’s been a lot of work by Amy, who got in touch from Australia and generously volunteered. This is at least 70,000 words – the length of a novel. So now you can check words (apologies for every single unclear syllable) and read if you prefer that to listening. Plus, the series is finally accessible to the hearing-impaired (including, most importantly, my mum).
The posts are dated next to the episodes themselves for convenience, which is why you haven’t seen 15 new posts in the last couple of years.
Amy said of the experience:
Where I live there’s not much opportunity to do anything in the vegan cause but I still feel the calling to help promote the lifestyle, so doing this has satisfied that call to some extent.
As well as that, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience of listening to the stories Ian and the interviewees told, and following the circumstances around no-meat diets from ancient times.
I realise I haven’t posted much else recently. This is not entirely unrelated to current UK politics, and I’m hopeful once that’s resolved, I’ll put out more than the odd social media video in 2020. My immediate goal is to adapt the history series into shorter lighter videos.
